We chose to build a castle of glass
We chose to make it high and strong
The world pelted stones at our shelter
And we mocked them for assuming us to be fragile
Until one day there came along a man
They called him fate
Reeking of raw strength and madness
He took his bare fist and boxed against the glass
And there came crashing down our dreams
We ran away to different places
Building new houses of glass
Only to be broken again by the same man
And then we knew that he wouldn’t let us live
He wouldn’t let us at peace
And so we decided to part away
To pick up the shattered splinters of our glass hearts
And throw them in the bin
The scars on our heart lay throbbing
As we saw tears flow down each other’s eyes
In that moment
We were just petty mortals
Seeking love but further falling down a void of heartache
Maybe one day we’ll meet and everything will be okay
Let’s see if our fragile organs survive till then
Let’s see if we can survive till then.
Quite provocative, wonderfully expressed in the tone of a melancholy remembrance, but also as if a passing down of knowledge to those who came after.

Beautiful depiction of how life knocks us down. I love the way you imbibed the metaphors of fate being the man and the glass being our dreams. 👏👏

Thank you so much! They are so similar, aren’t they? The dreams are brittle fate is generally unkind.
