The End

Thunderstorms clapped their lightning upon the world and the raindrops that fell on our roofs were stained crimson
The ground shook and we felt tremors, stumbling over our own footsteps and doomed by our own souls
The apocalypse stomped over our fragile vessels and we tumbled into the wide crevices lining our narrow paths
The inevitable loomed over our heads like the omnipresent curse of the reaper and we trembled and broke down into our shells
We saw into each other’s eyes that day and what we witnessed was a chaotic window overlooking hatred
Skins hiding evil thoughts and rancid objectives shaking their fists at our faces with permanent frowns crawling over our bones like a flea we couldn’t quite shake off
The air felt like a disease curling around our necks and threatened to choke the life out of us and all we did was breathe, one step closer to death every time the beast floated over our lungs
The sky tore open above our heads and burst into a kalaidoscope of different shades of anxiety and anger raging towards us
We curled ourselves up in balls in haste, and we cried for our souls, we cried for our home
We cried for our friends and for our family and for our pets and for our lovers
As the tears made their way across our faces and down to our chins, we shut our eyes and gradually slipped away into the hold of oblivion
And suddenly, the world wasn’t so terrible after all.
